The Ogun State chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Saturday inaugurated and unveiled Campaign Secretariat and Campaign Council in preparation for the 2023 general elections.

The newly inaugurated campaign secretariat will serve as the Asiwaju/Shetima presidential campaign office in the State, and as well serve as the coordinating point for all APC 2023 general elections' candidates".

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the State Governor, who is the APC governorship candidate in the election, Prince Dapo Abiodun charged members of the Campaign Council to work together as a team in selling the party's programmes and manifesto to electorates in the State.

Governor Abiodun said, "today, as we unveil this Campaign Council, I urge you all to work together as a team, even as we sell our programmes and manifesto to the good people of Ogun State. We must work tirelessly as we did three years and six months ago".

"We must engage in constructive and issue based campaign in line with the provisions of the electoral and rule of engagements".

"Your appointment into this campaign is based on your track record and contributions to the growth and development of our party, hence you are expected to live up to the expectation by winning the State for the progressives again in the presidential, Gubernatorial, Senate, House of Reps and the House of Assembly elections. Our campaign must percolates to the grassroots for the good of our party".

He assured that his administration will continue to sustain its position as one of the most peaceful State, if not the most peaceful in Nigeria by deploying technology for surveillance and crime detection, adding that he will continue to provide necessary incentives for law enforcement agencies for the realization of a crises free state.

Security to us is very important, as we understand that no investor will invest in an environment that is not secured. Hence, will continue to provide necessary incentives for our law enforcement agencies for the realization of a crises free State.

"This we did in the outgoing term, as we provided Hilux vans, Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) and other logistics for our security agencies in the State. The establishment of Amotekun Corps has also been a blessing to our state for the effective policing of our boarder areas against banditry, kidnapping and terrorism".

"As we proceed to meet our people to seek their votes in this campaign for all our candidates in the States, let me assure you all that, our administration will remain unwaveringly committed to the equitable development of our State and the implementation of people oriented and purposeful infrastructure, in line with our policy of inclusiveness and good governance".

"We are planning to implement Project light up Ogun during our second term in Office. This project will focus on reduction of diesel and the constant peril of consumption and pollution to the conversion to gas power vehicles and bicycles popularly called Okada".

"We have done more than enough projects to ease our campaign while we promised to do more for the benefits of the people of Ogun State if voted into power again".
"Just recently, we launched our Social Investment programmes which is to provide support for the youth, poor and vulnerable people. Our target is to reach out to 40,000 people in the first instance, while we assure our people that this momentum would be sustained during our second term in office".

"We will also be constructing a dry port at Kajola and a logistics hub at Wasinmi. These we believe will not only create jobs for thousands of our youths, but will also sustain the momentum we have achieved as the best State in Industrialization".

"We will be looking at the oil prospects in our state by leveraging on the abundance of Oil resources in Tongeji  Island and Olokola. We have the assurance that with the right technical knowhow deployed into this oil deposit location, Ogun State will soon join the comity of oil producing States".

"These and many more are my plans as we aspire for our second term in office.  We do not have monopoly of ideas on governance and administration; hence, I beckon on you to join hands together with me to continue to build the future of our State together.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, a former governor of the state, who doubles as the Grand Patron of the Campaign Council, Aremo Olusegun Osoba, said he was extremely happy with feat achieved in the State by the Governor Abiodun-led government in Ogun State in the last three and half years.

While saying that APC has marketable candidates for the forthcoming elections from Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as Presidential candidate and his running mate, Senator Kasshim Shetima, to Governor Dapo Abiodun, all Senatorial, Federal House of Representatives and State House of Assembly candidates, Aremo Osoba charged party loyalists to work very well for the success of the party and all its candidates in the 2023 elections.

"The 2023 general elections begin on Monday with distribution of Permanent Voters'  Cards (PVCs) by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Therefore, all party faithful should mobilise people, who are yet to collect their PVCs, to go out and collect their PVCs so that they can vote during the elections.

He expressed displeasure that South West region has the highest number of uncollected PVCs in the country.

He equally advised all candidates of the party to include the party logo "broom" in their campaign posters and banners, saying that during elections, voters' will look out for party logo and not candidates' faces.

Osoba appealed to all aggrieved members of the party to sheath their sword and work for the success of the party during the election.
