National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, Senator Abdullahi Adamu has called for a total overhaul of the nation's educational sector to make it more vibrant for the Nigerian youths in line with the founding fathers.
Adamu who spoke at the N500m fund raising for critical projects organized by the Eggon Cultural and Development Association decried dearth in education in the country, saying urgent attention must be taken to revive the nation's educational sector.
Senator Adamu who was the Chairman of the occasion explained that no nation in the world, will be comfortable that its youth are not educated, but into drug abuse, advance fee fraud, examination malpractice and violent crimes, warning against the danger inherent in such action.
Represented by Danladi Halilu Envulu-anza, the senator representing Nasarawa West warned parents against toying with the education of their children or wards adding that no parent will be happy that his child is involved in cultism and armed robbery. which a significant section of the Nigerian youth have fallen into.
"It is sad that the nation's educational sector has been reduced to a sorry situation where the youths of school age are made to stay out of school for months thereby exposing them to crimes and criminality. We must revolutionize the sector to meet the dreams of our founding fathers", Adamu declared..
"We must teach our children good values and entrench a culture of self respect, respect for others, love of their country.
"A child that is lucky to be raised by a strong moral upbringing and tutelage of good family orientation, is truly the asset of his society and an epitome of the development and progress of his nation".
In his remarks, the state governor, Abdullahi Sule lauded the Eggon nation for taking the giant stride to embark on the fund raising to complete some critical projects in the community secondary school.
Governor Sule noted that the move by the Eggon nation was in line with his administration resolve to raise the educational bar in the state.
According to Sule, since the inception of his administration, much premium has been paid on the advancement of education with the highest allocation of the state budget to the sector.
Represented by the state Deputy Governor, Dr Emmanuel Akabe, Sule said over 30 percent of this year's budget has been dedicated to education sector deliberately to ensure that the citizens are properly educated.
"As the nation of the world place education above other sectors, we in Nasarawa Connor be left behind when it comes to education" Sule declared.
He commended the Eggon community for sustaining the standard of the community secondary school established in 1979, urged the Eggon nation to maintain the peaceful disposition and positive development.
The governor who however promised to fence the community secondary school estimated at N57m, called on other communities to take a cue from the Eggon nation in the area of development.
Earlier, the ECDA president, Mandy Abuluwa had said the community secondary school established in 1979 has continued to be sustained through the community efforts.
According to him, the leadership of ECDA have made remarkable development in the only community secondary school ensure the unity of the community and the state at large.
He called on the political class to engage on issues base rather than black mailing or engaged in bring down syndrome in the interest of peace and the development of the state.
