We'll ensure completion of all ongoing projects -- Abiodun

By Editor

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has disclosed that his administration would ensure that all ongoing infrastructural development projects across the State are sustained and given the desired attention towards their completion.

Prince  Abiodun made this known during the Treasury Board Meeting on year 2023-2025 Medium Term Expenditure Framework and 2023 Budget, at the Oba's Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, stating that the present government had embarked on projects that have significant impact on the people.

The Governor said the ‘ISEYA’ mantra would serve as a guide for achieving greater heights, which was in line with the multi-year budgeting framework to further pursue a medium-term sector strategy, to be carried out in each sector over three years.

Governor Abiodun pointed out that the introduction of a medium-term revenue strategy was a movement from the traditional expenditure-based budget to revenue-based budget, adding that the move would enhance and sustain revenue mobilisation, collection and enforcement in revenue-generating agencies.

Abiodun noted that the fiscal policy thrust of his administration was based on providing an enabling business environment for private sector investment and partnerships, which he said could be achieved through improving the efficiency and effectiveness of key processes, such as land acquisition, business registration, construction permit as well as the provision of key infrastructure and incentives to attract investors into the State.

In his welcome address, Commissioner for  Budget and Planning, Mr. Olaolu Olabimtan remarked that the present administration had recorded 62 percent performance as at the September 30.

According to Olabimtan, "in year 2020, we were able to achieve 39 percent total revenue performance we however attained 70 percent in 2021, while as at September 30, 2022, we have achieved 62 percent performance, we are poised to finish this year even more strongly at an expected performance of well above 70 percent".

He also appealed to heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies to take active interest and participation in the budget process and procedures right from the planning stage, adding that they should be involved in the Medium-Term Strategy, as well as the costing of the various initiatives and projects.
