Three persons were on Sunday lost their lives, while two sustained varied degrees of injuries in an accident that occured in Obada-Oko, in Ewekoro local government area of Ogun State, along Abeokuta-Ota road.
A statement by issued by Public Education Officer, Federal Road Safety Corps, (FRSC) Florence Okpe.
According to Okpe, the accident, which involved two vehicles, occured around 7.15 in the morning.
The statement read, "the fatal crash occurred at about 0715 hrs this morning after Obada Police station".
"A total of 05 persons were involved and all male adult. Two persons sustained injury and unfortunately 03 persons were killed".
"02 vehicles were involved with registration numbers AKM489ZY a VOLVO MINI TRUCK and a NISSAN CAR with no registration number".
She added that "the suspected cause of the crash was route violation on the part of the truck driver and collided with the Nissan car".
"The injured victims were taken to General hospital Abeokuta for medical attention, while corpses were deposited at the same hospital morgue
The Sector Commander FRSC Ogun Sector Command commiserated with the family of the crash victims and advised motorists to avoid route violation completely.
He added by saying that safety is everybody business especially in this season of high vehicular movement. One should drive cautiously and obey traffic rules and regulations.
