Presidency: Forgive Adebutu for saying "Yorubas are greedy" - Ogun students

By Editor

The National Association of Ogun State Students (NAOSS) has appealed to Yorubas to ignore the comment credited to governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the State, Ladi Adebutu, that the SouthWest is greedy for demanding the presidency in 2023.

The association appealed to Yorubas to forgive Adebutu's ignorance and not give his comment any serious attention.

Adebutu was reported to have said on Monday that, the Yorubas should not be selfish and support the PDP's presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar in the 2023 general elections.

According to Adebutu, former President Olusegun Obasanjo and interim Head of State Ernest Shonekan from the SouthWest geopolitical zone have been Nigerian leaders at separate times while nobody from the North-East has been the first citizen.

But, reacting to Adebutu's comment, the National President of NAOSS, Comrade Oluwagbemileke Ogunrombi in a statement on Tuesday, said Adebutu is suffering from delusion.

"We want to believe that Adebutu made the comment out of his ignorant point of view.

"How can Adebutu accused the Yorubas of being greedy for demanding the presidency? How can he say that another Hausa/Fulani man should succeed President Muhammadu Buhari?

"We consider his comment a great insult to the entire Yoruba race. But, we plead with the Yorubas to ignore Adebutu's folly.

"But, we want to caution him to desist from misleading the people with uncultured, ignorant comments", Ogunrombi said.
