How man kills his 3 weeks child in Nasarawa

Operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command have arrested two  men  for allegedly killing a  3-week old child.

Nasarawa State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel in a statement  issued in Lafia, said  the arrest of the suspects followed intensive manhunt while the suspects were in lam after committing the crime on October 11 in Lafia,

According to the statement,  the principal suspect Abdulkadir Ahmed  40-years-old asked his friend Hassan Sabo  40 years  to lure his estranged wife and mother of his three-week old baby to his shop opposite Correctional facility in Lafia  on  the pretext of seeking reconciliation with her.

The statement added that on  arrival  at the shop, Abdulkadir Ahmed took the child  from the mother into the shop while Hassan Sabo engaged  the mother of the child in a discussion outside and suddenly, the child screamed and went quiet.

The statement explained that Abdulkadir Ahmed immediately came out of the shop and the mother enquired to know why the child screamed but was told that the child has gone to sleep.

Not satisfied, she rushed into the shop and discovered the lifeless body of her child as the culprits immediately left the scene on a motorcycle while the body was evacuated to Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, Lafia by the police for post-mortem examination.

The statement further added that the state Commissioner of Police, Adesina Soyemi ordered thorough investigation into the dastardly act.

In a related device, a 30 years  Woman  was on Friday arrested  for allegedly killing her  boyfriend  over a disagreement in Mararaba, Karu Local government Area of Nasarawa state.

Operative of the Nigeria Police Force, Nasarawa arrested  the   victim, Alice Mulak in Ungwan Gwari, Karu Local Government Area of the state for allegedly killing her boyfriend with a knife.

The  Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), in the state, DSP Ramhan Nansel disclosed this in a statement issued  and obtained by  vanguard in Lafia, the Nasarawa state capital.

The PPRO  stated that the unfortunate incident occured behind City Rock Hotel, Mararaba at about 03:30 am following a disagreement that ensued between her and her boyfriend.

The statement which reads in part said: “Police operatives attached to Mararaba ‘A’ Division in Nasarawa State led by CSP Musa Babayola have arrested one Alice Mulak of Ungwan Gwari, Karu LGA for stabbing her boyfriend to death with a knife."

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the incident happened behind City Rock Hotel, Mararaba at about 0330hrs when the deceased and his girlfriend engaged themselves in fisticuffs as a result of a misunderstanding," the statement added.

The statement continued: "The suspect was arrested and the knife used in perpetrating the offence was consequently recovered based on the directives of the commissioner of police, CP Adesina Soyemi.

“The suspect has been transferred to State Criminal Investigation Department, Lafia for further investigation and subsequent prosecution to serve as a deterrent to others.”

Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC),Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has told Nigerians that with their support,he is confident of winning the 2023 general elections.



He said as president, no inch of the country will be ceded to banditry as his government will fight crime and criminality to a standstill.



“I have the ability to surmount all problems to bring the country on the right track and prosperity," he said.



Tinubu  who said that he knew he was at home in Kaduna where the people would support him, spoke at the 7th Kaduna Investment Summit in Kaduna  on Saturday.


He reiterated that insecurity  would be a byegone story  if he becomes president in 2023.



“I am going to solve all the problems in Nigeria if elected president.I am confidently telling you that I will lead this country in 2023 with your support."



"No inch of this country will be ceded to banditry.We will fight it to a standstill.Under my leadership, we will use counter-insurgency technology to eliminate crimes in our society. Your lives will be secured."



“We will privatise the ease of doing business, we will ensure steady power supply and distribution."



“Nigeria will succeed and move on to prosperity. I will assemble intelligent Nigerians both men and women for the progress of our country."



“We will champion an effective government that will block revenue leakages for proper accountability," he said.



The presidential candidate jokingly told Governor  El-Rufai "if you leave me on the podium I will continue to campaign."


Tinubu appealed to El-Rufai not to run away from Nigeria in 2023, ” because we need your creativity at this critical time."


Amidst a thunderous applause, Governor El-Rufai walked to the podium and said, “I promise to stay even on a part-time basis."


 Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, was accompanied to the occasion by the Jigawa and Kebbi State governors and some other chieftains of the APC.

The Presidential Candidate of  the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former Vice President , Alhaji  Atiku Abubakar had said he knows the challenges of Nigeria and has  gathered enough experience to address the challenges.


He reiterated that building economic prosperity in Nigeria will be a mirage without unity and national security.


The Wazirin Adamawa assured that if elected president, he will develop Nigeria, build a dynamic economy for prosperity, restore Nigeria's unity and strengthen the security apparatus.


He spoke at an interractive session organized by the Arewa Joint Committee made up of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), Northern Elders Forum (NEF), Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation (SABMF), Jamiyyar Matan Arewa (JMA) Arewa House (Center for Historical Development and Research) and Arewa Research and Documentation Project (ARDP) in Kaduna on Saturday.


According to him, Northern Nigeria's  current social and economic challenges calls for sobber reflection, adding that "as a country we must build consensus with a prosperity restoration with strong commitment and initiatives.."


" I am committed to articulate and implement transformation and development agenda of a united, secure and prosperous country," he said.


He said Nigeria's unity has never been threatened like now with an increasing number of Nigerian citizens openly challenge their allegiance to Nigeria's corporate existience through violent agitations and misguided demand for ethno-regional autonomy because of widespread feelings of marginalization and neglect.

In a renewed attack on Dayi and Tuge community in Malumfashi LGA, Katsina State, terrorists early hours of Saturday killed two locals at Gidan Diyam and also kidnapped two other persons from Dayi community.

Among the two kidnapped victims is Hyginius Ugo Ejike, popularly refered to as "Yellow." Ejike is an assorted businessman who specializes primarily in the sales of building materials. 

According to the source, the assailants in the bid to kidnap the businessman, removed completely the gate of his residence located along the way to the community cemetery. They also took with them his wife's phone, the source noted.

"After removing the house gate, they entered the house and demanded for money but they had no money at home to give them. So, the assailants pulled him out of the house wearing singlet and boxers. But the wife pleaded with them and they allowed him to put on a shirt and trouser before taking him away."

The other victim identified as Mustapha was also kidnapped from his residence within the same area. Mustapha is said to be the grandson of the village head and works at the Dayi Primary Health Care, a reliable source told Vanguard.

Also, in one of the residence visited by the hoodlums, the head of the house was said to have jumped over the fence, leaving his wife and newly born twins at the mercy of the bandits. Fortunately, the assailants spared the wife because of the twin babies after she told them her husband did not spend the night at home.


Dayi community which was prompt to banditry attack in the past had for sometimes now enjoyed relative peace until this recent attack

One of the three federal colleges in Katsina State, Federal Science and Technical College Dayi is also located in the Community.

According to the source,  nothing has been heard from the hoodlums who attacked the community since about 12:30 am today, Saturday.

The Spokesman of the Katsina Police Command, SP Gambo Isah said he is yet to be briefed on the development. He promised to check with the DPO of the affected area and revert but has not as at the time of filing this report.
