One feared dead as Yoruba, Hausa clash in Ibadan

By Our Correspondent

At least one person has been reported killed, as Hausa and Yoruba people clashed at Ring-road in Ibadan South West Local Government Area of Oyo State on Sunday.

It was gathered that chaos ensued after a lottery kiosk operator, popularly known as Baba Ijebu, Mufutau Sanni, was reportedly killed, following injuries sustained while trying to separate a fight between an Hausa man and his Yoruba counterpart on MKO Abiola Way.

According to an eyewitness, who saw how the scenario played out, trouble started when argument ensued between a Hausa trader and his customer, a development which caused Sanni to intervene with motive to resolve the matter.

Sanni’s intervention, however, did not go down well with Hausas who are majorly commercial motorcycle operators, which made them to descend heavily on him.

The attack on Sanni, according to the eyewitness, landed him in a nearby hospital, where unconfirmed report said he had given up the ghost.
