The New Nigeria Peoples Party has called for the disqualification and arrest of the presidential flag-bearers of the All Progressive Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, Atiku Abubakar due to high level of corruption in the process through which they emerge candidate in their respective party convention.

The Chairman of the NNPP Katsina State Chapter, Alhaji Sani Liti, who made the call in Katsina, said the emergence of either Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu or former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar as president of Nigeria in 2023 would plunge the nation into deeper crisis considering the high level of corruption in the procedure through which they emerge candidate of their various party.

Liti categorically stated that the process violated the law and the result of the convention is nothing but the proceeds of corruption and should be confiscated.

"We call on INEC to disqualify and cancel both APC and PDP National conventions and for the security operatives to arrest all those who participated at the convention including aspirants, delegates and those who organized them.

"We urged the INEC, EFCC, DSS, the Nigerian Police and all relevant law enforcement agents to do their jobs. For INEC, electoral law provisions, particularly, part V, sections 88, 89 and 94 have been violated by the aspirants. For EFCC, the outcome of the convention is a proceed of corruption and in total violation of parts of section six of the EFCC Law.

"The evidence is glaring and clear for all Nigerians. For example, Delegates from the two conventions displayed sums of money that were corruptly obtained as indicated by the following facts."

Liti recalled how a delegate was shown in a Youtube video celebrating the purchase of a new car on the return from one of the convention.

Similarly, he made reference to the Kaduna PDP Delegate who Shared N7m With the less privileged in his community from proceeds he got from the convention.

The Katsina NNPP Chairman also called for the immediate resignation of President Muhammadu Buhari from office considering the worsening insecurity situation experienced under his reign in the country.

"In the event of the President dragging a foot or refusing to resign, we urged the National Assembly to apply constitutional means to save the lives and properties of Nigerians.

"It shall be pointed out that from 2015 to date more than 50,000 Nigerians have lost their lives to bandits.

"Also, several trillion Naira worth of properties and money for ransom were lost to the insurgents who used the money to purchase weapons as confessed by some of the bandits.

"The extortion by these arsonists has further made the people of this country, economically poorer and also due to the inability to embark on agriculture, food production, now and in the immediate future," Liti said.

Going further, the Katsina NNPP Chairman suggest that "the government of Nigeria should as a matter of urgency declare a state of emergency on security. In this respect, we are calling for the government to immediately hire mercenaries (for six months) from wherever to train and fight the rising banditry, insurgency, and tribal militia.

"Similarly, the government should as a matter of urgency recruit one million young Nigerians to be trained as Special Forces to protect and secure the country when the mercenaries leave in six months."

In the same vein, Liti called on the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency in the following states: Katsina, Kaduna, Zamfara, Niger and Sokoto.

He particularly called on the Minority Leader of the Katsina House of Assembly who is a member of the NNPP to commence impeachment process on Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina State, urging the other mentioned states to follow suit.

"With the state of emergency, it is expected that the governments of these states shall be suspended, and their accounts closed so that all monies shall be channelled to secure the states from banditry and insurgency. Should the Federal government refuses to act, we ask all the state assemblies to start the processes of impeachment of the governors.

"For us in Katsina state, we ask the minority leader of the house, who is a member of our party to move a motion for the impeachment of the governor, if the government has failed to act."
