Amotekun arrests four for theft, cultism in Ogun

Operatives of Ogun State command of Amotekun have arrested four persons in connection with theft and cultism.

A statement by the State commander of the Corps, CP David Akinremi (rtd), and made available to Vanguard in Abeokuta, 

operatives of the corps in Ijebu-Ode, on 19th February, 2022 while on surveillance patrol in Oyingbo area of the town sighted 27-year-old, Otun Ajibola Opemipo on a motorcycle, with a cross bag hanging on his neck. 

Akinremi said, this arouse the suspicion of  his men and they decided to search the contents of his bag, and found the following items; thirty wraps of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp, three charms, a measurement scale for weighing hard drugs".

"On interrogation, he confessed being a member of Eiye confraternity", he said. 

"Further investigation on him revealed that he was responsible for the killing of one Ibrahim sometimes in year 2020 in Ijebu-Ode, but escaped to Aiyepe to evade arrest by Homicide operatives at the State C.I.D. Eleweran", Akinremi said. 

"He has been handed over to the Police in furtherance of investigation into all the crime he is suspected to be involved with", Akinremi said.

In the same vein, on February 24, operatives of the corps in Ago-Iwoye, in Ijebu North local government area of the state received a report of theft of a tricycle 

"The said tricycle was parked at the gated residence of the owner only to be stolen overnight of 24th February, 2022". 

"Our operatives immediately launched a manhunt for the tricycle and those responsible for the theft. This effort yielded result as the tricycle was traced to a location in Ojota, Lagos, where Sunday Samuel, Anifowose Michael and Adeboye Opeyemi, were arrested with the tricycle".

Akinremi added that the three suspects had confessed to the crime, as well as other similar theft of tricycles in Ijebu-Igbo, Ijebu-Ode and environs. 

The suspects said, they were based in Lagos where they also have their receiver but only go to operate in Ijebu-Ode, Ijebu-Igbo axis.

"The corps while appreciating the support and cooperation of the good people of the State for timely information which has helped in our modest achievements, it solicited for their continued support in our quest to make the State safe for citizens and residents alike.
