Rotimi Akinde, father of slain Bidemi Akinde, who was gunned down in August 2015 when people suspected to be land grabbers invaded Oke - Ore community in Ado-Odo/ Ota Local Government Area of Ogun state, has called on the Nigeria Police and the Ogun State Ministry of Justice to revisit the alleged murder case of his son.
Akinde therefore is demanded for justice for his late son, who was killed five years ago.
Akinde said the soul of his son will not rest until the killer(s) of the boy were served the justice and punishment they deserve.
He is calling on the Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Police and the State Ministry of Justice to revisit the alleged murder case, alleging that it was perfunctorily handled between the Police and Department Public Prosecution when it was first reported.
He said fresh facts have emerged from witnesses whose account of the incident would help shed more lights on the suspects in connecting with the murder of his son, hence the need for the police to reopen the case.
According to him, the alleged shoddy manner the case was treated initially provided room for the suspects in the murder case to evade prosecution.
Bidemi Akinde, 18, died of gunshot wound in Oke ore community in Ado-Odo/Ota area of Ogun state when suspected land - grabbers engaged the Oke Ore villagers in a fight during bids to enforce court judgement over disputed land in the area.
Stray bullets suspected to have been fired during the over 45 minutes the armed landgrabbers held the villagers in terror, caught Bidemi from the left ribs while standing in from of his father's compound, which is few metres away from the main road.
A notorious land-grabber was said to have led the "ajangugbale" to Oke - Ore village on that fateful day.
Arrests were made by the Police but could not press charge against the suspects because report from the Department of Public Prosecution(DPP) recommended "no case" directive for the accused.
