Ogboni Awopa cult members on rampage, beats pastor to stupor for not producing runaway church member

Members of a new generation church; The Redeemed Evangelical Church has cried out to Nigerians for help over recent attack of the presiding pastor at his residence. 


Pastor Adepoju Aderounmu was attacked by men of the Ogboni Awopa cult members over his refusal to produce a runaway church member who was said to have an ensuing rift with the cult members for years. 


It was gathered that the church premises was attacked by the Ogboni Awopa cult members on Sunday; 31st March, 2021 during an ongoing church service. 


It was reported that to the chagrin of the church members who were deep in worship of the Almighty God, the Ogboni Awopa cult members stormed the church clad in their fraternity regalia and attacked the members while trying to lay their hands on their target; one Mrs. Fabunmi Onazie Stella and subsequently abducted her. 


Similarly, on other two occasions, the said recalcitrant cult members had stormed the residence of the woman repeatedly without succeeding in re-abducting her. 


In this recent attack, the Ogboni Awopa cult members were said to have stormed the residence of the pastor in the early hours of 18th October, 2021 and beat the pastor to stupor over allegation that Pastor Adepoju Aderounmu was shielding their target from them since 2019. 


A church member who also doubles as the security of the church and was an eyewitness said the cult members stormed the residence of the pastor in the early hours of the said day and alleged that the Pastor was an impediment to their access to the runaway woman. 


During a heated confrontation, a heavy blow was dealt on Pastor Aderounmu's face and a free for all fight ensued. 


When contacted on the telephone, the image maker of the Police in Ogun State command; Abimbola Oyeyemi said he has been briefed about the incident and the police are currently investigating the matter. 


He was resolute that the perpetrators of the acts would be severely dealt with.
