Ogun calls for stakeholders support for the health sector

By Our Correspondent

The Ogun State Government has solicited stakeholders' support across board to join the present administration in its quest to achieve the vision of qualitative and affordable health delivery to residents.

This call was made by the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker, while taking delivery of some intrauterine contraceptive devices ( IUCD) donated by the Rotary International towards improving Reproductive and Maternal Child Health in National Family Planning Project, in her office in Abeokuta.

Coker said that the Prince Dapo Abiodun led government is not relenting in its efforts aimed at reducing maternal mortality, describing family planning as a strategy to achieving this goal.

She said that maternal health enables the women to contribute their quota to the socio-economic development of the society at large, pointing out that the economic prosperity of all residents is paramount to the state government.

Commending the Rotary International for its consistent support to the state health sector, the Commissioner admonished relevant stakeholders to support the government in its efforts to give a face lift to the sector.

Presenting the items on behalf of the leadership of Rotary International, Dr. Hassan Adelakun, said that the non-profit organisation will continue to provide the needed support for the good of humanity.

Adelakun added that the medical items were meant for 10 primary health centers in rural areas, including Mamu, Opeji, Idofa, Ajegunle, Igbogila, Coker as well as Ode-Omi, Ibara-Orile, Oke-Odan, Ohunbe.

The items included cuscus vaginal speculum, vulselum forcept, uterine sound, galli pot with cover, tray with cover, straight plain scissors, among others.
