Former Military Governor of Oyo state General Olurin dies at 76



Former Military Governor of old Oyo state General Adetunji Olurin, is dead.

 He reportedly died at the age of 76 years old. Olurin, who governed Old Oyo between 1985 - 1988, was born on December 3, 1944, in Ilaro, Ogun State.

 Sources revealed that he passed out on Saturday morning at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), after a brief illness. Olurin had his primary education at Christ Church School, Ilaro from 1951 -54; St. Paul’s School, Odo-Ona, Ibadan, 1955-57 and Local Government Authority Modern School, 1958.

 He also attended Egbado College, Ilaro, 1959-64, Technical College (now The Polytechnic), Ibadan, 1966. General Olurin served as the Field Commander of the ECOMOG Peace keeping Force in Liberia between 1992 to 1993.

 He attended the Nigerian Defence Academy. After his retirement from the military, he went into farming and later joined the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on which platform he contested the Ogun governorship election in 2011 but lost to Governor Ibikunle Amosun.
