Tinubu, Obasanjo, Atiku, David Mark to honour Alake 20th coronation anniversary






The Aare Ago of Egbaland, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar and former Senate President, David Mark are among prominent Nigerians, expected to grace civic reception organized by the Egba general title Chiefs to celebrate Alake of Egbaland, Oba (Dr.) Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, on his 20th coronation anniversary.



The landmark reception, scheduled to be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at the historic Ake Palace, Abeokuta, will bring together about 200 titled Chiefs from across the world to honour Oba Gbadebo’s two decades of exemplary leadership and service to Egbaland.


"More than 200 Egba chiefs are expected to attend the ceremony, which will feature speeches, goodwill messages, tributes, and musical entertainment".


Speaking with journalists ahead of the celebration, the Chairman of the Egba General Title Chiefs, Chief Israel Akanni Akinwale, the Baagbimo of Egbaland, revealed that invitations have been extended to distinguished titled Chiefs from Egbaland and across Nigeria, including those who holds Chieftaincy titles from Egba of recent and those who have over the years under the past Alake.


Chief Israel Akanni Akinwale noted that Oba Gbadebo’s reign has been marked by remarkable transformation in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and cultural rejuvenation within Egbaland, making the 20th anniversary a celebration of both legacy and progress.


Other dignitaries expected at the event programme include Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Jagunmolu of Egbaland, Atiku Abubakar, Baloye of Egbaland, Chief  David Mark Amulutoro of Egbaland and many others.


Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, who ascended the throne of his forebears in 2005, is the 10th Alake of Egbaland. Over the past two decades, he has been widely acknowledged for promoting peace, unity, and socio-economic development in Ogun State and beyond.


The celebration will feature the foundation laying of a 2,000-seater multipurpose hall in honor of Alake at the Federal University of Medical Sciences, Abeokuta, to be built by the Egba General Title Chiefs in his honour.
