Boiling Point: Prof Obilade, Prof Kazeem Point Way Out of Decadence in Nigeria's Education Sector






The conversation around the perceived decadence in Nigeria's Education Sector is the main issue occupying the centrestage on the forthcoming edition of the popular monthly interview discourse, BOILING POINT ARENA on Sunday May 12, 2024. 

Also to be tabled for discussion on the online show are the much-noised failure rate in the recently concluded Joint Admission and Matriculations Board(JAMB) examination as well as the entire gamut of governmental administration, policies and operations at the various levels of education, whether primary, secondary and tertiary stages.

To do justice to the issue are two notable experts in the field of education, erstwhile Vice-Chancellor of Tai Solarin University of Education(TASUED), Prof. Oluyemisi Obilade and former Provost, Osun State College of Education, Ilesa(now University of Ilesa), Prof Kazeem. 

The once-in-a-month current affairs programme will hold via Zoom on Sunday and will be transmitted live on a radio station, Sweet 107.1FM, for a two-hour duration from 8pm.

Boiling Point Arena, with an incredibly large online followership, is the brainchild of the Initiator and Convener, Dr Ayo Arowojolu, a media professional with 34 years multi-varied work career spanning the media, banking and education sectors.

Both Prof Obilade who is a top academic at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife and Prof Kazeem of the University of Ibadan, are respected authorities in the field of education. 

For her part, Prof Obilade, an erstwhile Commissioner for Education in Osun State is a professor of Adult Education and Women Studies while Prof Kazeem is a professor of Adult and Non-Formal Education.

This particular edition of the online discourse on governance and nation building, is the 19th such installment since the programme debuted in November 2022.

Topic of discourse is
"*Are We Preparing A Generation of Illiterates? Woes And Solutions to Decadence in Nigeria's Educational System*"

The duo of Profs Obilade and Kazeem are to offer perspectives on the seeming inconsistencies in the country's educational policies and the dangers posed to Nigeria's future.

A foremost traditional ruler, the Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba Prof Saka Matemilola, is expected to deliver the keynote speech to herald the discourse, in his capacity as the Chairman, Boiling Point Council of Royals and Elders.

According to a statement by the Chairman, Organizing Committee for the programme,  Mr Eddy Ademosu, one of Nigeria’s notable Public Relations Icon, the interview discourse will in particular point the way forward out of the decadence. 

Mr Ademosu commended the Management of Sweet FM, chaired by the Promoter, Senator Olugbenga Obadara for identifying with worthy causes through partnering with the Boiling Point platform to widen the audience reach of the programme through its terrestrial and online channels
