The Niger State command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC), has arrested four youths for chopping off the genitals of a two year old boy for ritual purposes in Niger state.
The boys were also linked to gang raping a 13 year old girl.
Investigation revealed that the young boys have been involved in genital mutilation, gang raping of minors assault and other criminal activities in Pandogari town in Rafi local government area of the State in the past months.
Members of the syndicate arrested are Aliyu Amiru 20 years of age, Suleiman Abubakar Gambo 19 years old, Yusuf Malam Murtala 22 years old all resident in Pandogari town, Rafi local government area of the state.
The suspects were arrested by a crack team of plain clothes Operatives of the NSCDC from the Rafi Divisional Command through an intelligence gathering mechanism put in place by the Divisional Command.
Addressing newsmen at the Command’s headquarters in Minna yesterday, the Deputy Commandant, Abdulhameed Kabara on behalf of his Commandant, Mr Joachim Okafor explained that the 13 year old girl gang raped is a JSS 1 student of Day Secondary School, Pandogari and was drugged by the suspects before carrying out their nefarious activity on her.
He said, "on Thursday the 2nd of May 2024, the Principal of the School informed Operatives of the Corps about the ugly activities of the syndicate and a strategy was perfected by using the victim as bait and it worked out perfectly as one of the members of the syndicate who threatened the girl's life was arrested.
During investigation, the thirteen year old girl revealed that Aliyu Amiru and other members of his syndicate abducted her some time in 2022, blindfolded and took her to an uncompleted building at the outskirts of the town during which they took their turn to gang rape her.
"While I was still in their captivity, a little boy of less than two years was also abducted and in my presence, his manhood was chopped off, and I was warned to pretend not to know what happened or be treated the same way the kid was treated," the young girl revealed.
"I was forced to lay flat on the ground and a needle like substance was used in pricking the surroundings of my navel and lower abdomen," she further revealed.
According to her, "the mutilated genital of the little boy was rubbed over the pierced area of my navel, mixing her blood and that of the boy after which the mutilated genital was dropped inside a little sack.
The Deputy Commandant said the girl managed to escape and they chased her but stopped when she ran into a graveyard.
According to the Commandant, the suspects have confessed to be involved in the act claiming that they were only errand boys to one Baba Sada who requested them to bring a male child genital to be used for a charm with assurance that the charm will protect them against any dangerous weapon such as bullet, matchet, dagger, knives among others and that they were given only five thousand Naira for the dangerous service rendered.
Meanwhile, the suspects have been transfered to the Intelligence and Investigation Unit of the state Command headquarters for discreet Investigation after which they will all be charged to court while other members of the syndicate are being trailed for arrest.
